The Museo Sant'Elia - which is hosting a gallery of Sri Chinmoy's painings - PAINTINGS FOR WORLD PEACE AND HARMONY.

As the Peace Run team run into Palermo from Porta Nuova students greet them to carry the torch.

Man mano che il team Peace Run corre per Palermo da Porta Nuova gli studenti lo salutano prendendo in mano la fiaccola.

The students lead us into Palazzo Riso, one of 14 locations in the city of Palermo that is exhibiting Sri Chinmoy's paintings. Sri Chinmoy, the founder of the Peace Run, produced thousands of paintings and bird drawings, all dedicated to Peace.

Gli studenti ci guidano a Palazzo Riso, uno dei 14 siti nella città di Palermo che sta ospitando i dipinti di Sri Chinmoy. Quest'ultimo, fondatore della Peace Run, ha prodotto migliaia di dipinti e disegni di uccellini, tutti dedicati alla Pace.

The students learn about the Peace Run and the paintings by Sri Chinmoy which he called Jharna Kala: Fountain Art.

Gli studenti imparano a conoscere la Peace Run e i dipinti di Sri Chinmoy, il quale diede alla sua arte il nome di "Jharna Kala", ovvero Arte della Fonte.

Students read poems by Sri Chinmoy, in Italian and in English.

Giuseppe Giordano (centre), from Association Extra, is very active in looking after refugees who come to Sicily. He helps them integrate into Sicilian life by teaching them sports. He and his wife (from New York) are talking to the European President of the Peace Run - Devashishu Torpy.

The gentleman in the red tracksuit was a refugee from Morocco. With Giuseppe's assistance he is finding a life for himself in Sicily.

Il signore in rosso era un rifugiato dal Marocco. Con l'aiuto di Giuseppe si sta rifacendo la sua vita in Sicilia.

Migration is a big issue in Sicily, and the present government are very keen to transform the negative prejudices that exist. There is a visionary project to establish freedom of mobility as an inalienable human right.

La migrazione è un grosso problema in Sicilia, e l'attuale governo è molto propenso a trasformare i pregiudizi negativi che esistono. Esiste un progetto visionario per stabilire la libertà di mobilità come diritto umano inalienabile.

Students of the famous choreographer Ms Patrizia Veneziano Broccia welcome everyone with an amazing dance performance that seems to invoke the aspiration of humanity, running and striving together for Peace and Harmony. They are dancing to an arrangement of the music to the Peace Run song.

Gli studenti della famosa coreografa Patrizia Veneziano Broccia accolgono tutti con una straordinaria esibizione di danza che sembra invocare l'aspirazione dell'umanità, correndo e lottando insieme per Peace and Harmony. Stanno ballando su un arrangiamento della musica dell'inno della Peace Run.

The Mayor addresses everybody. In his speech he underlines the importance of Peace, saying that we are all different 'people' but we are all 'human'.

Ms Ranjana Ghose reads a letter that has been sent by AA Thant, the daughter of the revered United Nations Secretary General, U Thant.

Inside the exhibition of Painting For World Peace and Harmony, Dr. Adam Darawsha, l’Assessore alla Cultura del Comune di Palermo (the Councillor for Culture in Palermo), speaks most eloquently welcoming the diverse cultures that are embraced by this art for Peace. Dott.ssa Rosaria Raffaele Addamo from Palazzo Riso also gave a very inspiring address to everyone gathered.

All'interno della mostra "Painting For World Peace and Harmony", il Dott. Adam Darawsha, Assessore alla Cultura del Comune di Palermo, parla in modo eloquente di accoglienza delle diverse culture che sono abbracciate da questa arte per la Pace. Anche la Dott.ssa Rosaria Raffaele Addamo del Palazzo Riso ha tenuto un discorso molto stimolante per tutti i radunati.

Mario Zito, Director of the Art Academy in Palermo, speaks most enthusiastically about the art surrounding him. He had prepared notes, but at some point, in the inspiring flow of his speech he just abandoned them and threw them aside. He pointed out that a person who could produce so many pieces of art, so spontaneously but with such rich brushstrokes, must have a deep spiritual resource from which it comes.

Mario Zito, direttore dell'Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo, parla con entusiasmo dell'arte che lo circonda. Aveva preparato degli appunti, ma a un certo punto, nel flusso ispiratore del suo discorso, li mette da parte. Ha sottolineato che una persona in grado di produrre così tante opere d'arte, così spontaneamente ma con pennellate così ricche, deve avere una profonda risorsa spirituale da cui proviene.

The magnificent Provost of the University, Professor Fabrizio Micari, who fully embraced and inspired the project of Art and Philosophy of Peace, meets the runners at the gates of the University on Viale delle Scienze.

The Engineering Department are hosting a lecture today titled, 'A Philosophy of Peace and Human Rights'.

Il Dipartimento di Ingegneria ospita oggi una conferenza dal titolo "Una filosofia di pace e diritti umani".

The Provost welcomes the Peace Run and all the speakers to the University. From his speech: "As a text by an anonymous states: Your Christ is Jewish, your democracy is Greek, your writing is Latin, your numbers are Arabian, your car is Japanese, your coffee is Brazilian, your watch is Swiss, your pizza is Italian, your shirt is Hawaiian, your holidays are Turkish, Tunisian or Moroccan. Citizen of the world, blame not you neighbour for being a foreigner!"

Il Rettore accoglie la Peace Run e tutti i relatori all'Università. Dal suo discorso: "Come recita un testo di un autore anonimo: Il tuo Cristo è ebreo, la tua democrazia è greca, la tua scrittura è latina, i tuoi numeri sono arabi, la tua auto è giapponese, il tuo caffè è brasiliano, il tuo orologio è svizzero, la tua pizza è italiana e la tua camicia hawaiana, le tue vacanze sono turche tunisine o marocchine. Cittadino del mondo, non rimproverare al tuo vicino di essere straniero!"
