Netherlands 8 May: Mijdrecht - Den Haag

Visiting schools (and getting lost) in Holland

Our first steps in a new country: The Netherlands. It's flat everywhere, which makes for good running.

Curious about the route: 5000 km through Europe this year.

Our local coordinator Bhadrika.

Beautiful countryside.

It's tulip season!

Patricia is loving it.

Team captain Devashishu putting in the miles.

Abhinabha (with torch) joined us for the first school today.

Elementary school Molenland in Mijdrecht.

We held our presentation for about 70 children inside.

They loved the song.

Little skits about peace, like helping an injured runner.

The best moment: holding the Peace Torch!

A local dance.

Teachers for peace.

Our certificate of appreciation.

Running with the Torch.

Say 'peace'!

Thank you Molenland for a great visit!

Saying goodbye with high fives.

On towards the second school.

Elementary school 'Esselyckerwoude'. (Try saying that 10 times fast.)

Attentive children listening to our presentation.

Feeling peace in the heart.

It was a beautiful day, so we finished outside with a short run.

Rallying around the Torch.

Dutch countryside: canals, trees and blue skies.

More Dutch countryside: windmills.

On the way home a few runners got lost...

...but we finally made it to Den Haag, where our friends of the Madal Bal health food store prepared a delicious meal for us. Thank you!
