Byron Bay - Casino

Reported by Salil Wilson 76.0 km

We had a short 15 mins to do a quick photoshoot down at the beach.

Meanwhile the rest of the team was packing up the tents.

Our first visit was to Vistara Primary School. According to their website the school is one of the many Neo Humanist Schools worldwide. Its guiding philosophy is Neo Humanism founded by P.R. Sarkar (1921-1990), which is based on the understanding of the deep inter-connectedness between self, others and the natural environment.

We felt very much at home here and there was an innate sense of spirituality which permeated the school community.

We had a lot of fun running around the school grounds.

Gesiane was happy to get out on the road.

Along the way we found a macedamia nut farm.

The road was hilly and the temperature was rising.

Meanwhile Paramananda was opening more nuts.

Even Bayarkhuu looked a little warm.

A cool shady spot for lunch.

A fun maze made out of giant pencils.

Dunoon Public School gave us a warm welcome.

Salil imitating the Statue of Liberty, near where he lives.

Paramananda showing how they smile in Bali.

These are the bookmarks we present to each child who holds the Peace Torch.

Our second team were delighted to see all the food Bexhill Public School had prepared for them.

The womens team sharing a message of sharing and caring.

Our actions to the World Harmony Run song.

The real heroes at Bexhill!!! Thanks for having us.

Out for a run.

Casino West Primary was our final school for the day.

Our Guatemalan contingent treated us to a charming song.

Liana from Colombia.

A moment of silence.

And now for some running.

36 degrees no joke!

Our final engagement was meeting the Mayor of Richmond Valley, Robert Mustow.

Also holding the torch with Mayor Mustow is Richmond Valley General Manager Vaughan Macdonald. It turns out Vaughan used to know the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in his days working for Centennial Park in Sydney around 2000.

Mayor Mustow was eager to run with us.

Deputy Mayor Cr Stephen Morrissey held the torch with his grandson.

Mayor Mustow very generously presented us with Richmond Valley hats.

So we're now part of the Richmond Valley team!! Thank you Mayor Mustow for taking time to meet with us.

We made it to our accommodation for the night: BIG4 Casino Holiday Park who are very kindly hosting us. Thank you to Angela and Natasha for checking us in.

Thunderstorms approaching!!!
