Austria 19 June: Mondsee - Wallersee

from lake to lake

We started our day at the primary school Tiefgraben/St. Lorenz near Mondsee. The greeting committee carried the torch into the gym hall....

...the kids enjoyed the fun...

...the children offered us a collection of peace drawings...

...a dynamic Run around the school ended the joyful event...

Thank you Tiefgraben/St. Lorenz for the enthusiastic meeting!

...we went on to the next school...

...and arrived at the "Sportmittelschule" Mondsee. The students met us in the gym hall...

...we received a petition for peace, signed by the students...

Thank you Mondsee for the nice event!

...after the short sidetrip to Upper Austria we returned to Salzburg...

...approaching Strasswalchen...

...children of the primary school Strasswalchen greeted the runners...

...a brief presentation in front of the school...

...and curious faces...

The school in Strasswalchen happens to be the school of our European Coordinator, who enjoyed this meeting tremendously...

The Mayor of Strasswalchen, Friedrich Kreil, receives the peace torch on behalf of the citizens...

...and he passesthe torch on to the children...

Thank you Strasswalchen for the heartfelt meeting!

...a family picture...

...we left Strasswalchen behind and continued to the next lake: Wallersee. Today we ran from lake to lake...

...some kids joined in spontaneously...

...arriving in Huttich...

Huttich hosts a lovely little school, the "Weinbergschule"!

This private school, based on the Montessori teachings, educates children not only in theory, but the kids also learn many practical things by "doing" in a holistic way.
The students are engaged in various social- handycraft - and farming projects. A great place to study!

...we lit a candle for peace...

...and we were treated for a gorgeous lunch, all self-made! The bread was also baked by the kids...

...the children showed us their school: here are the "little" ones: piglets and cats...

...a home-made pond...

Our today's highlight: together we ran once around the "Wallersee"!

The loop around the lake is 19km long. All the kids managed bravely!

...barefoot vs. barefoot light...

...the last metres...

Thank you for the incredible hospitality! We absolutely enjoyed your friendship!
