Spilimbergo - Majano

Reported by Sandro Zincarini 30.0 km

Our gratitude to Ca' Vittoria for hosting us for the night.

On to our first stop of the day...

...the primary School "G.B. Cavedalis" in Spilimbergo.

Making a wish for peace...

A perfect match for our torch!

Running through Spilimbergo...

...towards the City Hall.

There we were welcomed by council member Ester Filipuzzi.

We run through the countryside towards our next adventure...

A river crossing!

Helped by the volunteers of the local kayak club, we set off to cross the Tagliamento river.

The Tagliamento river is known for its unique beauty, created by its many intersecting branches.

Chantal (middle), was our guarding angel.

Arrived!

The mayor of Pinzano, Emiliano de Biasio, was with us on both shores. He explained us the importance of protecting the river and the role that the community of Pinzano has in the area.

We then reached the Hospitaliere of San Giovanni. A 1000 years old structure that was originally founded to host pilgrims, but then found its purpose also as a hospital. Throughout the centuries this place was fostering communication rather than separation, by facilitating travel. Mr. Marino explained us the importance of streets, rather than borders, to help create peace.

We were also welcomed by a representative of the Majano town.

We were then treated to a very hearty meal, in a very familiar and heart-warming atmosphere.

The final surprise was a composition made of cookies, that symbolized our running steps becoming peace in the form of doves!

The table was also decorated with the word PEACE written in many different languages.

Thank you very very much for this absolutely beautiful experience. We felt truly at home!
