St-Blaise Hotel Bujumbura - Lake Tanganyika

Reported by Vasanti Niemz 3.0 km

A day trip to the border of DRC was cancelled, so we decided to take a walk and jog along the shore of lake Tanganyika close to hour hotel. Along the way we met another hippo - and aligator.

As always we met nice people who were eager to take a photo with us and learn more about the Peace Run.

Today the wind whipped up the lake - there were kite surfers - and local swimmers.

Enjoying the peace and power of nature.

Heading towards the Democratic Republic of Congo - the border is past a nature reserve only a few km away.

Meeting interested athletes along the shore.

Bliss in the water!

Two rugby teams, just back from an exhausting competition, enjoying the fresh water. Eager to have a photo taken with us and be in the picture!

Photo time all around! Sunday outfits.

Finishing with a soft drink for all.

The beach is well guarded - little peanut sellers have no chance to approach us, unfortunately.

Bujumbara road traffic.

Bujumbara vegetarian pizza - with "decorations" (pieces of meat, just for decoration!)
