Kigali Airport

Reported by Vasanti Niemz 1.0 km

On the plane from Bujumbura, Burundi, to Kigali, Rwanda

On our way from Bujumbura, Burundi, to Nairobi, Kenya, we had a 5 hour stopover at Kigali airport - so the Peace Torch at least touched Rwandan ground!

As photos inside the airport are not allowed, we snapped some photos on the plane and inside the bus. We are hoping to come back to Rwanda in the nearest future for some real Peace Running in this beautiful country which Phaedra had come to love when she sat in a nest with silverback gorillas not too long ago.

We did share the Peace Run with travellers at the airport - like with one young man from Kaliningrad, Russia, who was fascinated to learn that the Peace Run had visited his city in 2015 and 2016 and again this year with a Colors of Peace exhibition of kids paintings for the UN International Day of Peace.

Boarding again for Nairobi via Entebbe, Uganda.

Torch carried by
