The day began with volunteers from Poops holding the torch. They donate time and walk our four legged friends for those who own them but can’t exercise them: such as the elderly. Such a self giving service which goes hand in hand with peace
We then had a heartwarming visit to Sunflowers Animal Farm near Busselton, where the team was surrounded by friendly animals and the simple joy that comes from close contact with nature.
It was lovely to see the warmth and dedication that Deb, Steve and staff have put into creating such a special place for families and travellers in the South West.
The farm’s hands-on spirit, with opportunities to pat, feed and cuddle the animals, created a cheerful and uplifting start to the day.
In the afternoon the team travelled on to St Mary’s Primary School, Donnybrook where the message of peace was shared once again.
These school visits always bring out something unique, and the sincerity and openness of the students made the ceremony especially memorable. Thanks to deputy Luke Skehan for organising.
That evening the team stayed at BIG4 Bunbury Riverside Holiday Park which has supported the Peace Run for many years.
