The Sri Chnmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run is a worldwide relay run that seeks to share the message of peace at a grassroots level. The Peace Run has visited Zambia on a number of occasions, mostly recently the town of Livingstone near to Victoria Falls in 2019.
"Peace is not the absence of war; Peace is the presence of harmony, joy and oneness. Peace reveals the absolute excellence of human life!" - Sri Chinmoy (founder)
This is the spirit in which the Peace Run (from 2005 - 2012 formerly known as World Harmony Run) was founded in 1987 by the late Peace Philosopher Sri Chinmoy (1931 - 2007). Along the way the Peace Run visits schools, running clubs and local and national government to share the message of peace.
The symbol of the Peace Run is a flaming torch which is carried by the runners. Each person who carries the torch make s a wish for a more peaceful world.
International teams of runners cross borders of all kind and thereby connect schools, communities, organisations and people from all walks of life.
The message of the Peace Run is very simple one: when we can run together in peace and harmony, then we also can live together in peace and friendship!
Each of us can change the world - by giving a living example to others and taking the first step symbolically! In this spirit we can run with the torch, carry it a few miles or just hold it and pass it on - every step counts!
Participate, when the torch visits your country! Yours is the first step!
