Peace Run in Uganda!

In 2006 the Peace Torch visited Uganda as part of the → "World Harmony Run" - later called Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run

Peace is not the absence of war; Peace is the presence of harmony, joy and oneness. Peace reveals the absolute excellence of human life!

This is the spirit in which the Peace Run (from 2005 - 2012 also known as World Harmony Run) was founded in 1987 by the late Peace Dreamer Sri Chinmoy (1931 - 2007).

The Peace Run is a global torch relay, wherein people promote peace, friendship and harmony by passing a flaming torch from hand to hand.

International teams of runners cross borders of all kinds and thereby connect schools, communities, organisations and people from all walks of life.

In 2006, the Peace Run (then World Harmony Run) visited Uganda.  Many schools in Kampala joined in the global invocation of peace and offered their goodwill to the world.  Several teachers from Kampala City Parents' School even relayed the torch from Kampala to the city of Jinja, where the Nile River spills out of Lake Victoria.

In October of 2013 the Peace Run will return to Uganda and from there link Rwanda and Burundi into the symbolic chain of peace.

The message of the Peace Run is very simple: when we can run together in peace and harmony, then we also can live together in peace and friendship!

Each of us can change the world - by giving a living example to others and symbolically taking the first step! In this spirit we can run with the torch, carry it a few miles or just hold it and pass it on - every step counts!

Participate when the torch visits your country! Yours is the first step!
