Our morning began at the Bobo Forro Market in São Tomé. This is one of the island’s central markets, created to accommodate vendors relocated from the capital’s center. Here you can find a wide variety of agricultural produce, local spices, and other assorted goods.
A manhã do nosso dia começou no Mercado Bobo Forro em São Tomé. Este é um dos Mercados centrais da ilha, criado para receber vendedores transferidos do centro da capital. Encontra-se aqui uma grande variedade agrícola, especiarias locais, entre outros produtos variados.
We visited the market to buy the freshest products from the island and also to share our message of Peace.
Visitámos o mercado para comprarmos os produtos mais frescos e originários da ilha como também transmitir a nossa mensagem da Paz.

While we waited to learn the next direction of our run, a little four-legged friend visited us at the entrance of the Diocese of São Tomé and Príncipe.

We started running to the first school of the day.
Começámos a correr para a primeira escola do dia.
In front of us, a resident carrying water for her community. This type of practice is very common in São Tomé and Príncipe, where the transportation of water, food, or goods is carried out in a balanced way on the top of a persons head.
À nossa frente uma residente a carregar àgua para a sua comunidade. Este tipo de prática é muito comum em São Tomé e Príncipe onde o transporte de água, alimentos ou mercadorias é feito de forma equilibrada sobre a cabeça.

We started to run again, and then we dove into the waters of the Blue Lagoon. Located on the northern coast of São Tomé, it is known as a beach that resembles an aquarium, due to the great variety of fish. Ideal for diving and snorkeling!
Retomámos a nossa corrida, e de seguida mergulhámos nas águas da Lagoa Azul. Situada na costa norte de São Tomé, é conhecida como uma praia que se parece como um aquário, devido à grande variedade de peixes. Ideal para mergulho e snorkeling!

We found a huge baobab! This type of tree can live for more than 2,000 years and has massive trunks that store water. It produces large, woody, and velvety fruits. They are resilient trees, adapted to dry climates, but can also grow in tropical areas.
Encontrámos uma grande baobá! Este tipo de árvore pode viver mais de 2 000 anos e possui troncos maciços que armazenam água. Produz frutos grandes, lenhosos e aveludados. São árvores resistentes, adaptadas a climas secos, mas também podem crescer em zonas tropicais.
Halfway along the way, some of the young runners who had run with us to the Blue Lagoon drove with us to their homes.
A meio do caminho alguns duns pequenos corredores que nos correram connosco até à Lagoa Azul, fizeram-nos companhia até às suas casas.
Surprise! The students of Neves Secondary School waited for us in the middle of the road to help us run!
