Manjimup - Nannup

Reported by Grahak Cunningham, Saranyu Pearson 48.0 km

Today’s Peace Run route took us from Manjimup through Bridgetown, Greenbushes, Balingup and on to Nannup, with a wonderful spirit of community along the way.

The day began at East Manjimup Primary School.

We were warmly welcomed by Shire President Donna Buegge who had met us last year on our around Australia journey.

We were grateful to see her again along with Principal Michael Smith who is a real peace lover!

At Bridgetown Primary School, we were joined by Councillor Julia Boyle, adding a strong sense of local support to the day. She has served her community with dedication in local government for 13 years!as an active advocate for community life and civic engagement.

The womens'team continued on to Greenbushes Primary School.

At Greenbushes Primary School A small school of 32 eager and attentive children.

The children were immersed in the Peace Run experience and guessed all the countries correctly. It was an enjoyable visit for all of us.

Balinghup Primary is another sweet small school where the children were happy to talk about what peace means to them and ask the runners some very good questions about the event and why we each were running and where we had run. The teachers were great relay runners for the peace run team as they held a short relay to be cheered on by their classes……

The mens' team ran some big hills through lush forest.

The mens' team paid a visit to Nannup DHS, where the small but enthusiastic student body greeted us warmly.

The students led us on a torch relay run around the oval.

At Busselton we visited the mile-long jetty.

The men's team were hosted at Mandalay Holiday Resort in Busselton.

The womens' team was generously hosted by Clare and Garry for dinner before being hosted at Nannup Hotel who generously provided us with complimentary accommodation for the night.
