This morning, the Peace Run team awoke to a breathtaking sunrise stretching across the horizon — a beautiful reminder of the peace and promise each new day brings.
A good sun hat is key!
After a quick breakfast, we hit the road toward Karratha, with each team covering 73km to ensure we would arrive by early afternoon.
The day's run was nothing short of spectacular. Something eye catching with every stride — red earth, rugged hills, open skies creating ever-changing backdrop to our journey.
The connection between the runners and the land deepened with every step.
Arriving in Karratha with a few moments to spare before our next commitment, we made a quick stop to collect another generous donation of fresh fruit and vegetables from Woolworths — kindly provided to help nourish our team.
The support from the local community continues to inspire and energise us.
Services can be sparse out on the road, so it's important to be stocked up on fuel for the torch, petrol, water and of course food.

At 2:45 PM, two of our runners were interviewed by Channel 7 for a pre-recorded segment that will air tomorrow. It was a wonderful opportunity to speak about the Peace Run with a wider audience and highlight the joy and unity this journey brings. (Zoom call not pictured. :-))
At 3:00 PM, we gathered for our final run of the day — a symbolic ascent to the top of Tank Hill. There, we were warmly welcomed by Mayor Scott, who shared heartfelt stories of his deep connection to Karratha, the town he’s proudly called home for most of his life.
His passion for the community was truly moving and aligned beautifully with the spirit of the Peace Run.
We also had the pleasure of meeting Maddie from the Pilbara News, who came to Tank Hill to capture the story of the Peace Run for the local paper. Several runners had the chance to speak with her and share their personal experiences and reflections.
However, our day wasn't quite finished. Upon arriving at our accommodation, we were surprised to find... a construction site! A quick call to Dani from the Scouts — who we’re scheduled to visit tomorrow evening — saved the day. With incredible generosity, she rushed over to the local Scout Hall and opened it up for us. Thanks to her kindness, we had a safe and welcoming space to spend the night.
Tents were pitched, and our runners settled in with the comforts of a warm hall and kitchen. The evening was filled with teamwork as we sorted photos, wrote reports, and prepared for the next leg of our journey.
