This morning, we visited Leeman Primary School, where we were warmly welcomed by the children and their teachers.

They eagerly asked questions about the Peace Run and were thrilled to hold and pass the torch flame.

With heartfelt words of encouragement, they wished us well on our journey, waving goodbye as we departed.

The women team’s first stop was the beautiful city of Dongara in the Shire of Irwin Dhavala and Emily ran the torch in through a lovely street in Dongara lined with large ornamental fig trees.

The Shire of Irwin President, Mark Leonard came out on a busy day to meet us. He read about the Peace Run and wished everyone would be a part of it.

He is a farmer and actually needed return to his tractor , but he made time out of his busy day to greet the runners. We sang the Peace Run song and his staff called us singers posing as runners. Very kind! I’m not sure their hearing is very good.

He walked us to our school meeting about 100 metres further down the road. At the school, he handed the torch over to the Deputy Principal of Dongara DHS, Helen Cusworth.

We stopped at the Dongara IGA to accept the gift of produce and groceries. Thank you very much for helping to feed our ravenous runners!

We enjoyed lunch at the marina close to town where Stacey had a quick jump in the water to cool off.
