Trani - Matera

Reported by Dipavajan Renner 65.0 km

Thank you to the hotel Riviera...

...and the hotel Trani for hosting some of our team members...

it was about to become a great day in Trani. After last night's great meeting we were eager to visit some schools in Trani. The 2º C.D. "Mons. Petronelli" school was first.

A small greeting committe. Little did we know what was about to come...

The drummer boys guided us through the school...

..and 700 kids were lined up for high five!

What a welcome!

All kids had paintings about peace in their hands.

Fortunately we have a portable microphone with us...

An Albanian greeting message - very fitting, as Albania will be our next country...

And again high five on our way out. Thank you for the enthusiastic welcome!

A group of kids joined us to the next school...

...also some local runners...

A secondary school was next.

Everybody likes our continent stamps!

...a great singing performance...

a big "Thank you"!

The Polizia Locale Trani did a great job!

Scuola Elementare 3º Circolo "G. D'Annunzio" welcomed the Peace Run.

Peace can be felt in the heart....

...a dynamic run...

It was time to say "Good Bye" to Trani. What a great Peace Run city!

....we just digested Trani as we ran into an enthusiastic crowd in Altamura.

It seemed the whole city came out to greet us...

A crowd of 1000 people awaited us in front of the Dome.

It was a very colorful spectacle.

The mayor received the torch...

...as well as the Bishop.

Altamura is an old, traditional city and still values its history. Girls performed medieval dances in historic dresses.

Peace does not mean the absence of war.
Peace means the presence of Harmony, Love, Satisfaction and Oneness - Sri Chinmoy

Five schools and lots of group pictures...

Thank you Altamura! What a nice event!

We ended the meeting with local sweet specialities.

Again the police was extremely nice...

..we reached Matera. The city was built around an canyon with lots of ancient caves.

The city representative received the torch.

Thanks to the police in Matera.

MAtera is like a Suisse cheese. Lots of caves have been carved into the rock over all the centuries.
We ended the day in a restaurant - cave.
