Spokane, WA - Hope, ID

Some of the women's team were very kindly hosted by Mary and Peggy in their amazing home in the woods outside Spokane.

We had a tour around their garden after being treated to a breakfast including fresh cherries from their tree, alongside homemade granola.

In the morning we all gathered again at the Veradale United Church.

They had an adorable gnome collection, complete with a mini LOVE sign.

Shari receives a certificate of appreciation from Salil for her help in bringing together a wonderful group of peace-lovers in Spokane.

We gifted Shari a Peace Run jacket, so now she is really part of our team.

Reverend Gen blessed the Torch before we started running for the day.

She then led us on our way. Thank You to all our new friends in Spokane, we hope to see you all again in two years.

Peedie then took the Torch to run the first leg of the day.

Then we were all off and running, heading towards our next state, Idaho!

Some donkeys took an interest as we ran by.

Our route took us along tree-lined roads and beside railroad tracks.

The team were happy to be joined by Jowan for a few days. He is a skilled photographer and took several of the shots in todays report.

Our ever-smiling Austrian, Chintamani.

Santiva meeting more new friends on the road.

With some encouragement from our team-mates the miles fly by.

We reach Sandpoint where we are met by a group of old friends and new friends, including city representatives, members of Bonner County Human Rights Taskforce and other community groups.

Daulot welcomes everyone, introduces the Peace Run and tells how significant this years run is, as we celebrate the upcoming 250th anniversary of America.

We played our country guessing game to introduce the team.

The Torch was passed around for everyone to offer their wishes for Peace that we will take with us.

We were delighted that our longtime friend Kym Woodruff was able to join us. Kym first met the Peace Run in 1987 and has  been a fixture in our visits to Sandpoint over the years. It was so nice to reconnect with such a peace-loving soul.

Kym offers some heartfelt words for us.

We're grateful to Joshua Torrez and Pam Duquette, councilors from the Sandpoint city for joining us today and officially welcoming the Peace Run to Sandpoint.

And our gratitude always to Kym, we'll see you next time!

Taking a Peace walk to the Sandpoint Statue of Liberty.

The statue is in a stunning setting on Lake Pend Oreille, surrounded by hills on all sides, beautiful in any weather!

Everyone wanted their photo with the statue!

As we have now entered Idaho we gathered some Idaho soil to continue our project of collecting soil from each State, which will be used to plant a Peace Tree. Thanks to Kym, Pam and Joshua for doing the honours here.

Our final destination was the peace pole in the park, where we all took another moment of peace together.

Dinner time-Enchiladas with exceptionally good corn!
