Uji City, Kyoto

Reported by Harashita Sunaoshi, Harita Davies

Today our international team was very happy to visit Iseda Elementary School in Uji City, Kyoto.

A big thank you to Okada sensai, pictured here speaking with our local organiser, Harashita Sunaoshi. His enthusiasm for our visit helped make the experience a lot of fun for everyone!

Our Chinese team member, Chelsea, was popular with the children!

Okada sensei introducing the team. At the beginning they showed us a video of a recent visit the students made to the Osaka Expo.

These kids gave us a very impressive welcome in both Japanese and English!

Along with our Peace Run banner, we also had a banner with artwork by Peace Run Founder, Sri Chinmoy. This is a scaled down version of one of 12 large banners that are being exhibited in a downtown underground railway walkway,(Shijo-dori Chikadou), for the month of February.

Harashita and Harita invited the kids to guess the many countries we represented. They did great!

USA!

Urdhacheta from Singapore.

Amalendu representing England.

Slovakia....

Croatia...

China!

Guatemala!

Finally Japan!

Time for the World Harmony Run song with actions!

Feeling peace in our hearts is always special and these kids were so soulful.

Finally it was time for everyone to have a chance to hold the Peace Torch and make their own wishes for peace.

We all had fun running with the torch around the gymnasium! The kids were super enthusiastic, and also great runners!

A final big group photo!

These kids enthusiastically received our Certificate of Appreciation and an artwork by Sri Chinmoy.

When we are happy,  We scatter peace-petals  Everywhere. -Sri Chinmoy

We were treated to a heroic departure!

We were sad to say goodbye to our adorable new friends, but we won't forget you! A big thank you to everyone who made our visit so special!
