As we entered the school assembly at Chinook Elementary, we were delighted to see this message which resonated deeply with the team.
400 students joined the team at Chinook today. They were so well behaved for such a large crowd. Well done Dr. Whitt and teachers!
Special Education teacher Andrew Blakenburg was selected by his peers to receive the Peace Run Torch-Bearer Award. Mr. Andrew was selected because of his dedication to our students, staff, and school community. He consistently goes above and beyond to support others, always stepping in wherever help is needed. He treats every student with kindness, dignity, and respect and works hard to ensure they feel supported and successful. What truly sets Mr. Andrew apart is his willingness to give his time and talents to make our school a better place for everyone. His positive attitude, dedication, and commitment to our students exemplify what it means to be a Torch Bearer.
Harita takes a moment to thank the teachers of Chinook. Teachers have a very significant role in helping to make the world a more peaceful and positive place. They set an example and inspire, encourage and guide their students to become better citizens of the world. At Chinook Elementary, they take their responsibilities very seriously.
Chinook Elementary School Principal Dr. Jenny Whitt joins her students for a run with the Peace Torch. At the beginning of today's program, Dr. Clare Fulp from the Alaska School District presented Dr. Whitt with the Alaska Distinguished Principal Award. She stands out as a leader among leaders and cares deeply for her students, teachers and staff. Congratulations!
The next visit of the day is with the students of Inlet View Elementary School. Our exciting grand entrance into the auditorium. Mackie, Mae and Sloan carry the Peace Torch in.
Dr. Arthur Sosa, Principal of Inlet View Elementary reads a quote on our Certificate of Appreciation, from Peace Run founder Sri Chinmoy, "O dreamers of peace, come. Let us walk together. O lovers of peace, come. Let us run together. O servers of peace, come. Let us grow together."
