Almost 70 embassies in Washington, DC hosted open house for guests to visit and experience cultures from around the world. Thousands of people attended the event which was held over two weekends. We were very happy to have the opportunity to pass the Peace Torch to hundreds of people waiting in line. Many people were very enthusiastic and happy to hold the torch. This man is outside the Embassy of China.

Priyanthi Kanakaratna from the Embassy of Bangladesh makes a wish for peace. The Peace Run founder, Sri Chinmoy, grew up in Bangladesh!

Prakhara with Sandra Pires, cultural attache to Portugal, who kindly organised for us to meet with the Ambassador of Portugal.

It was a beautiful day and everyone wanted to hold the torch! Here we are outside the Embassy of Portugal.

People were very interested to find out about the Peace Run- it was a beautiful opportunity to see how much humanity longs for peace and connects with the message of the run.

We were very happy that an old friend of the Peace Run, Raghu B, joined us. He very kindly bought icecream for everyone when we were done!

After we left the embassies, we had the chance to visit some of the monuments dedicated to great Americans. Here we are pictured with Thomas Jefferson, 2nd President of the United States and Writer of the Declaration of Independence.

With the great Franklin D. Rosevelt, 32nd president of the United States. We really enjoyed experiencing this extensive monument and reading the quotes on the walls.

With Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States during FDR's Presidency, first United States Delegate to the United Nations and designer of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
