Namche Bazaar - Deboche

Reported by Preetidutta Thorpe 11.0 km

Our amazing porters carrying all of our bags so happily every day.

Thank you to the lovely Kombhu Resort for hosting us for two nights in Namche.

Leaving Namche we had quite a steep downhill and then a two hour climb straight up. It was slow going.

We found a great shopping and tea stop along the way with very sweet people.

We were so lucky to have the most clear skies today. stunning mountain views the whole way!!
Apparently this is quite rare.

The beautiful Himalayas.

This little girl attends Khumjung school, a two hour walk each way. She was sick yesterday when we visited her school so we were happy to meet her along the track today.

With the steep climb up we take many small breaks to acclimatise and drink plenty of fluid.

Breathtaking scenery.

We were really surprised and happy to come across our new friend Jeff who was wearing a Sri Chinmoy triathlon t-shirt from 2011, Victoria, B.C.
He was very excited to hear we were affiliated with the Sri Chinmoy Marathon team. He loves his t-shirt because of the aphorism on the back, "Individual self-transcendence collectively inspires humanity at large"
We promised him a Peace Run t-shirt when we meet him back in Kathmandu.

This is the beautiful Lhotse in the center, the 4th highest mountain in the world. The great Sagarmatha, Mt Everest is behind to the left. The wind looks strong up there today but we were assured climbers would have reached the summit last night.

The team.

Tea time

A very enthusiastic peace torch holder.

These two 21-year-olds are just returning from Mt. Everest summit! It is the third time they have reached the top.

Meeting Joe from Central Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.

Sweta, our team member representing Nepal.

We reached Tengboche Monastery.

Receiving a very auspicious blessing from the Lamas. They chanted a sacred prayer and blessed our Peace Run.

Dinner time!

A beautiful evening staying in Rivendell Lodge in Debuche to end a very fulfilling day.
