Humpty Doo, NT - Darwin, NT

Reported by Atulya Berube, Edgars Ancans, Stacey Marsh 40.0 km

Today, the Peace Torch continued its inspiring journey, arriving in Darwin after setting off from Humpty Doo.

Though it was a short running day, many of the runners turned out in full force, united in the joy of carrying this ever-enriching symbol of peace.

Their energy and enthusiasm filled the air as they shared in this meaningful experience together.

Muggi had the opportunity to run on the cycle path today.

Today is Pasha's first day of running on the Australian Peace Run.

ABC Radio’s Sunday host, Lyrella Couzens, spoke with one of the runners, who shared heartfelt stories of the special people and places the Peace Torch has visited so far on its journey.

Later, the Peace Run team gathered at the Multicultural Council of the Northern Territory (MCNT),where they were officially welcomed by the Lord Mayor of Darwin, Kon Vatskalis.

He was joined by the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Jinson Charles, and the Minister for Children of the Northern Territory, Robyn Cahill OAM.

These distinguished guests expressed their appreciation for the Peace Run and their pride in Darwin’s richly diverse community.

They spoke of a city where it's not only accepted but celebrated to hear many different languages spoken, to see churches, temples, and places of worship side by side, and to know that diversity here is a strength that unites rather than divides.

Many members of Darwin’s multicultural community attended the event, offering a wonderful opportunity for the international Peace Run team to connect with fellow countrymen and women who now call the Top End home.

The head of the Latvian Society came especially to welcome our Latvian team member Edgars.

After the formalities, a delicious Indian lunch was served, giving everyone a chance to relax, connect more deeply, and share stories.

There was time to carry the torch, reflect on the spirit of peace, and celebrate the shared values of harmony, understanding, and acceptance that make this community so special

Anara, Attila and Tamas left very late to catch their flights back to their home countries. Thank you for all you brought to the Australian Peace Run!

Attila expressed his gratitude in snacks for us to discover the next morning :)
