Garberville, CA - Eureka, CA

Today we had the privilege of running among the tallest trees on earth, the Redwoods. Our route took us along The Avenue of the Giants, a stretch of road which the Redwoods tower over with all their majesty.

The early morning light with little traffic was an ideal time to run through this seemingly timeless area. Some of the trees are over 1500 years old and it's a humbling experience to spend time among them.

We also had time for a walk along one of the trails to soak in the peace and pure air that surrounds these giants of the tree world.

We met this family on the trail who were happy to pause for a moment and make a wish for Peace.

It's hard to stop looking up!

Lush green ferns covered the ground, adding to the mystical feeling.

Leaving the Redwoods behind for now, we carried on to Eureka.

We were met at Eureka City Hall by Mayor Kim Bergel. Kim has become a special friend of the Peace Run, having met us on 6 occasions before. Kim is someone who exudes enthusiasm, kindness and a passion for helping people .

Mayor Kim Bergel reads out a moving proclamation, declaring Peace Run Day in Eureka.

Ready to run! Kim is a keen runner so she joined us to run the 4 miles to our next meeting. We could see during the run how well loved Kim is in the community and how she cares for everyone.

The run over the bride gave us expansive views of the area.

We arrived at Redwood Coast Montessori School, where Kim is one of the founders and where the Peace Run first met with her. The kids had a little Peace Run around their field before we told them about this years special route around all 50 US States.

Thanks to everyone for a sweet, inspiring meeting.

John from KVIQ came out to film this afternoon's events in Eureka, thanks for your enthusiasm.
