Viitasaari - Lapua

Reported by Thamara Paiva 157.0 km

We spent the night in a typical camping house by a beautiful lake...

Another sunny day is waiting for us on the road!

The Peace Run arrived at Haapaniemi school!

We were very warmly welcomed!

Time to learn a song.

"We are the oneness and fullness!"

Jari Kunelius, principal at Haapaniemen Koulu -school,  received Jharna-Kala, Sri Chinmoy's art, from Iiris Nuuja.

Jorma Rihto, Director of Leisure Services, joined the school community to meet the Peace Run team.

Thank you for hosting the Peace Run!

The children had the chance to run around the track carrying the torch with the Peace Runners.

We love running on the track!

Peace lap on the amazing track and field.

Kids loved the Peace Run cards!

The Peace Run was welcomed by children waving Finnish flags!

Pointing to a picture of Sri Chinmoy, the founder of the Peace Run.

Who can guess which country I am from?

The children learned the World Harmony Run song...

"We are the oneness and fullness of tomorrow's sun"...

Pelkka Salimen, teacher at Huopanan Koulu, received the Jharna-Kala from the Peace Run team.

Time for a lap with the torch on the track!

Road signs along the highway mark the route of The Blue Road.

The Blue Road was once seen as a network of roads connecting the nations and shared cultural area of Northern Europe; it was even called the “Peace Road".

The original significance of the Blue Road as a promoter of peace and connection between nations has been at risk of being forgotten. This year, the International Peace Run seeks to revive this perspective and remind people of the route’s original mission: to unite the Nordic peoples across borders.

We passed by many beautiful lakes along the way.

Our van waiting for the runner to cover some miles...

Following the Blue Road sings!

Last mile for today!

Getting our legs back in shape for the next race with some fresh water in the lake.

A typical house in Western Finland...

The Lapua River led us to the town... We ran along a beautiful little bike path lined with yellow flowers. Was a very nice running day until Lapua.
