Seattle, WA - Leavenworth, WA

We are all grateful to our wonderful Seattle hosts who generously organised accommodation for the whole team during our Seattle stopover. This is the women's team on the morning of our departure.  The whole team is now heading eastwards.

Running through the spectacular Cascade Tunnels, we were impressed by the mountains, fast flowing rivers and constant encouragement from passers-by.

The women's team enjoyed chatting with Wayne Hart, a local forest service employee.  Wayne held our Peace torch and wished the Peace Run all the best.

Beautiful butterflies were attracted to these delighfully fragrant flowers that were growing by the side of the road.

Santiva focusing on inner peace before she ran.

Dhavala, the fastest runner in the women's team.

Chintamani taking a moment to rest her hard-working legs.

The team shared the uphills and downhills,

Pausing for some photos at Deception Falls.

Enthusiastic supporters

In the afternoon, the running team reached Leavenworth,  a uniquely beautiful and charming Bavarian-themed town,  replete with German souvenirs, signage, cuisine and architecture.

We were kindly invited to introduce the Peace Run to the audience gathered in the town centre for the Leavenworth Accordian Festival.

We were then treated to a mesmerising alphorn concert.

The traditional costumes were exquisite.

Daulot, our coordinator for the day, was invited to try an alphorn. He did us proud and was complimented on his excellent first attempt at the instrument.

Various traditional alphorn pieces were performed beautifully.

We were assured that the instruments are surprisingly lightweight.

We continued to meet with citizens who were eager to hold the Peace Torch and offer their support to the Peace Run.

Kevin, Chris and Mike share the Peace Torch at Skykomish.

We met Heidi, Cris and Karen at Sky Artworks in Skykomish.

We are extremely grateful to Mark Schuetzler, who generously provided overnight accommodation to the entire team at his beautiful home in Peshastin.
