Remerschen - Schengen

Reported by Devashishu Torpy 37.0 km

In Luxembourg, on the United Nations Day of Peace, we run to the school in the village of Dalheim.

At our next school in Contern, more wonderful banners have been prepared for our arrival.

The Mayor of Contern receives the torch.

The Mayor has arranged for a Peace Tree to be inaugurated in the school grounds.

Students from the Sports Lycée in Luxembourg City carry the torch.

At the Sports Lycée we meet the Directors.

Then we run to the United Nations Association which has its office in this building.

Our runner from the Netherlands, Pranayani, leads us to our final destination in the village of Schengen.

In Schengen we are met by the Mayor and the curators of the Schengen museum.

On the river nearby, at the border of the Benelux countries, France and Germany, the Schengen treaty was signed on a boat to begin the open border policy which now includes 27 countries.
