The Peace Run took part in the 38th annual Dr. Arthur Lockhart "Say No to Drugs & Violence" Parade and Resource fair in Chicago's Austin neighborhood on the Ćity's West Side.

We were so happy to connect once more with our long time friend, US Congressman Danny Davis, who has dedicated his life to the service of the local community. We were presented him with Torch-Bearer Award in 2016. He was officially recognized this year at the start of the parade for his lifetime of outstanding service to the community and received Lifetime Service Award.

The Dr. Arthur Lockhart “Say No to Drugs & Violence” Parade has united community members, educators, healthcare partners, veterans, youth groups, businesses, and civic leaders to promote healthy lifestyles and create safer neighborhoods.

Devashishu Torpy, Director of European Peace Run, presented the Torch-Bearer Award to Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson for his outstanding service to the community.

"We're going to continue to invest in our young people," said Mayor Brandon Johnson. "

This annual celebration empowers youth to stay in school, practice non‑violent conflict resolution, and make positive life choices.

Last year we planted a Peace Tree dedicated to Dr. Arthur Lockhart Sr.

The parade features many different groups creating a vibrant space full of joy and spirit of friendship and unity.

We could not resist to take a photo with Mickey Mouse!

Beginning of the Parade...

...music followed us along the way...

During the parade many residents took the opportunity to hold the Peace Torch and make a wish for peace!

Joy spread instantly.

...as well as enthusiasm...

...big smiles everywhere...

...passing the torch from hand to hand...

...and from heart to heart...

....from one family...

...to another family...

...thank you for keeping us safe...

...and for your smiles...

A moment of peace and harmony with the little ones!

Farewell to our dear friends from Chicago. We are very grateful for their big hearts and great hospitality.

After Parade we continued our running...

...moment of peace before running...

...and reached the City Hall in Buffalo where we met Policemen Dave and Ross, along with Dave Johnson from Harbor Country News and Francesca from New Buffalo Times.

We ended our day in beautiful Fuller's Resort and Campground. Kirsty and Mark, our hosts offered us most delicious ice cream.  We have stayed here many times and always had wonderful time!
