Ptuj - Maribor

Reported by Devashishu Torpy 63.0 km

Thank you to a kind friend of the Peace Run who gave us the full use of his house.

And to another good friend who fed us a most bountiful and delicious breakfast and dinner.

Ptuj is the oldest documented town in Slovenia. The Romans were here.

Our morning starts with a tour of Ptuj castle.

This Castle was owned by a Scottish family - the Leslies - before being taken over by a famous Austrian family. The Castle is now the property of Slovenia.

These costumes are worn at a festival that takes place every year in February: a festival that chases away winter and welcomes the Spring.

We run down into the centre of Ptuj for a Ceremony.

The Mayor of Ptuj.

Our professional MC's.

These dancers performed to the music of Swan Lake.

Rain starts to fall as we approach Majsperk.

The Mayor receives the torch.

The Mayor and the Principal both receive Jharna Kala artworks by Sri Chinmoy.

As we approach Slovenska Bistrica young runners are waiting to join us.

The Mayor remembers the Peace Run from a visit 4 years ago.
