Klamath, CA - Talent, OR

Reported by Suhasini Septiarini 1.0 mi

We were fully recharged by our stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Klamath and really appreciated their hearty breakfast . We took a picture with Liz, one of their friendly staff as she held the Peace Torch with the runners.

Now we are ready for a three hour drive to Talent, Oregon to visit our dear friend and the jewel of our heart: Bhavatarini.

On the way, we made a quick stop to enjoy the serenity of the cleanest free flowing river: The Smith river. It stretches from Northwestern California into Southern Oregon.

Then, full speed ahead.

Finally, we are here in Oregon.

We sang a song dedicated to Oregon composed by Sri Chinmoy. He wrote extensively about the 50 States to honour this land that he cherished.

Home is where your heart is. Welcome to Bhavatarini's haven.

All the runners gathered and introduced ourselves to Bhavatarini, her sister Paula and Margay, her lovely neighbour.

We were very delighted to have a home-made lunch. There was corn bread and beans, bean salad, mac and cheese and rice salad. It was a real treat to have such a big spread served to us.

What a beautiful shot of everyone, including Renee, Mahasamrat and Bhavatarini's daughter and Jody, her husband.

It's perfect, too good to be true, a collection of treats for everyone.

Taking a little break before heading out to pay homage to Mahasamrat Bill Pearl.

We are so grateful to our Bhavatarini for letting Suhasini cut fresh lavender from her garden. Her kindness and generosity made this sweet bouquet feel even more special.

A moment of silent prayer and peace to Mahasamrat. Here is the song that Sri Chinmoy wrote for Mahasamrat Bill Pearl on September 16th 2006:

'Emperor Sovereign, Emperor Sovereign, You are Sovereign Emperor! Earth-Heaven's new Consciousness-Light For the climbing pilgrim-steps! Compassion-ocean-eyes, Pinnacle-mountain-heart, Dauntless power-arms, Sleepless progress-body, Equanimity-smile, oneness-flute. Sun-splendour-soul above; Victory's trumpet-life below.

We went to see Mahasamrat's extensive collection of bicycles, toy cars, clocks and other antiques, as well as trophies from many distinguished institutions, including the Sri Chinmoy Meditation Center.

There is also a fine collection of hats!

A truly delightful moment taking in this collection.

Another lovely shot of the whole team with Brenda and Mark (left side) who are good friends of Bhavatarini and Mahasamrat.

Each physical medal tells a story, allowing us to keep alive forever the wonderful memories of the journey it took to get there.

It is a beautiful sight to see wild deer gather peacefully around her house, sensing the safety and warmth of her sanctuary. Her deep love for animals doesn't stop there, as her home is also a joyful haven for an eclectic mix of pet turkeys, cats and tortoises.

Ending a perfect day in the absolute best way-watching a stunning sunset over the hills from the peaceful garden. Pure bliss!

As Sri Chinmoy wrote: 'In the evening The golden sunset-peace Shelters me.'
