Липень 16, 2025 Live from the road

Richmond, QLD - Hughenden, QLD

Reported by Atulya Berube, Michal Griglak, Roxana Magdici 115.0 km

We had a gorgeous sunrise view from our camping tents facing the lake at Lakeview Caravan Park.

After a nutritious breakfast we run to the first school of the day...

Richmond State School.

The Mayor of Richmond, John Warton, was also present at the school, where he greeted us and shared with the children his view on importance of keeping peace alive.

The Peace Run team introduced their vision and mission that Peace has to be found in all of us and at first in ourselves only then we can live in harmony.

Teachers have received the Torch to wish their wishes for peace and run a few laps to go as an example for kids.

We are very happy and we do appreciate the warm reception and acceptance of our team by Richmond State School, where we could feel aspiration of the teachers and happiness of the children which are both indivisible part of creating peace in and out of us.

After saying goodbye to the kids in Richmond, it's time to hit the road.

Today's road is long, straight, flat, and hot. But (for a change), the wind today is behind us!

The endless prairie reveals a vastness-sky that reaches right down to the horizon.

When you can see the horizon in all directions, it can feel like being under a giant blue bowl. A new and wonderful experience for our runners from mountainous countries.

Though the prairie can look like all that lives there is grass, when you have time to stop and look you can find abundant life.

In the afternoon we arrived in Hughenden just in time to visit our second school of the day...

St Francis Catholic School.

We feel like one family and, as Atulya from San Diego likes to say, we have more than 8 billion brothers and sisters and Earth is our home.

We have lots of fun engaging with the children, answering their questions and singing together the World Harmony Run song with actions.

We are truly grateful for having met the children and teachers of St Francis Catholic School along our journey.

At Allan Terry Caravan Park Owen and Natalie welcome us with joy and courtesy.

After receiving the Peace Run Certificate of Appreciation, Owen and Natalie come to visit us at camp dinner and enthusiastically they tell us they have laminated it and displayed it on the window.

Akhzanar from Kyrgyzstan cooks for the team a most delicious Korean meal, guksu, making the runners very happy.

In the evening the team members went out to view the stars which are so clear and bright in the outback. And now that we have professional photographer Satyagraha from Switzerland on the team, we can even take photos that come close to showing how awe-inspiring the vast cosmos that surrounds us is.
