Tháng 8. 2, 2025 Live from the road

Grafton, NSW - Armidale, NSW

Reported by Susan Marshall 196.0 km

We started the day at Grafton ParkRun.

It was pouring.

This woman had offered to billet some of the runners.

Gianluca had to chase this little boy.

Who won?

Kieran McAndrew, Grafton local, heard about the Peace Run and instantly signed up to run a 45km leg.

It was pouring

The women's team were further along, where the weather was even worse.

We gave running a go, but it quickly became clear the road was not safe.

We got stuck in an unpredicted snowstorm. Although Armidale is in the mountains, the locals couldn't remember it snowing since 1984.

200 vehicles without snow chains, snow tyres or 4WD were unable to pass. Including us.

At one point we considered walking 10km to the nearest Roadhouse.

But we were advised to remain with our vehicle.

We waited for 7 hours until the SES - the State Emergency Service – which is run entirely by volunteers, came with graders and shovels to clear the road and rescue the people.

We finally made it to Armidale.

Getting out of Armidale would be our next adventure....
