Kyoto blessed us with beautiful sunshine for our last morning amongst her peace-loving sons and daughters. Our morning began at 8:00am with a heartfelt meeting with the head priest of Shoujou-in Temple, Sumika Kimura san along with her husband, deputy priest, Tatsuo Kimura san and their son, Takeaki san
今日はいよいよ、京都市を出発し本格的リレーを始める日です。本日の目的地は三重県の伊賀市。朝からとても爽やかなお天気に恵まれました。朝8時の出発地は、左京区の正定院。木村純香住職、辰雄副住職、息子さんの武揚さんがセレモニーでピースランを見送ってくれます。
Takeaki san then ran with our team for 3km south along Kamo River. We were all clothed in our usual Peace Run attire but Takeaki san wore his ceremonial robes, his only concession to modernity and comfort being a bright pair of orange running shoes.
正定院の息子さん武揚さんが、男子チームと一緒に出発。鴨川を３キロほど南下して一緒に走ります。装束とオレンジのランニングシューズの組み合わせがナイスでした。

Our first school visit was at Hiramori Elementary School in Uji, just a few kilometres south of Kyoto city.
ほどなく宇治市に到着。最初の訪問先は、宇治市平盛小学校。
The ceremony commenced with a colourful dragon and taiko drumming performance by the school students. It was in honor of the students with Chinese and Vietnamese origins in the student body. In this school, 20% of the students have roots outside Japan.
平盛小は外国にルーツを持つ子供さんが２割ほど在籍し、その中でも中国やベトナム系の生徒さんに敬意を込めて皆さんで練習を積んでこられた、「龍舞」を踊って迎えてくれます。

Our team then travelled just 2km to Okubo Elementary School, there the children formed a guard of honour to welcome us with under beautifully decorated arches of coloured paper.
次の訪問先は、数キロ先の宇治市大久保小学校。体育館に到着すると、色とりどりの花で作ったアーチを作って、チームを迎えてくださいました。

The certificate of appreciation presented to the school that contains the Dreamers of Peace poem along with the Peace Run song and music score, and a Jharna-kala (fountain art) artwork by Sri Chinmoy.
感謝状、ピースラン主題歌の楽譜、提唱者シュリチンモイのジャーナカラと呼ばれる平和の絵の贈呈です。感謝状には、シュリチンモイ作の「おお、平和を夢見る者よ」のポエムが引用されています。
The children were very friendly and enthusiastic and joined us in singing and country guessing games. They also made origami gold medals for the team. (Note: there were several extra medals, and those travelled with the team all the way to Kamakura, and on the final day, they were given to the students of Inamuragasaki Elementary, our last visit!)
生徒さんはとても熱心に一緒に歌を歌ったり、国当てゲームに参加したりしてくれました。最後には、チームメンバー全員に折り紙で作った金メダルをいただきました！ありがとうございます！ （余分にいただいた金メダルは、チームと一緒に旅し、最終日の最後の訪問先、鎌倉市稲村ヶ崎小学校の皆さんに贈呈させていただきました！）
At the close of our presentation the children formed a guard of honour again and sang as we ran out.
交流の最後、生徒さんたちが花道を作り、平和の歌を歌いながら、ピースランチームを見送ってくださいました。感動です。
Our final ceremony was at Minori Kindergarten just 1km on from Okuba Elementary School. The little children were very sweet, very enthusiastic and very, very cute.
今日最後の訪問先は、やはり宇治市内、大久保小から１キロほど行ったところにあるみのり幼稚園。小さな小さな子供さんたちは本当に何て可愛らしく、エネルギーに溢れているんでしょう。
The children performed a wonderful song and dance of Soran Bushi. Soran Bushi is a traditional song originally created by the fisherman from Hokkaido.
子供たちみんなで、ソーラン節を披露してくれます。ソーラン節は元々北海道の漁師の労働歌でしたが、今は学校の発表でよく見かけます。
幼稚園児さんでこの動きができるなんてすごい！と皆感心。
The little children again formed a guard of honour and we all had to bend down extra low to high five them all as we left their school.
最後のかわいらしい花道。チーム一同、腰を低く曲げてハイタッチ！

Our team of runners then travelled through some lush green (and quite hilly) countryside to Iga City.
午後は走ります。京都から三重に入っていく鮮やかな緑の山道を交代でリレーします。
Along the way the team took a little break to enjoy some Japanese matcha delicacies.
途中道の駅でご当地物の抹茶で作ったたくさんの商品をチェック！ 海外ランナーは好奇心満々。

Today's destination, Iga City, is most famous for being the home of the famed Ninja warriors.
今日の到着地の三重県伊賀市は、忍者の里で有名。
Our team enjoyed a hearty meal at Nikaku Shokudo, the walls of which are decorated with many Ninja artefacts.
伊賀市のニカク食堂で、ビーガンハンバーグ定食をいただきます。この食堂は、まず出入り口の扉がすごい。店内は忍者の武器が壁にかかり、テレビでは忍者もののビデオを放映中。
Some of us had fun posing in the Ninja cutouts at the front of the restaurant, with some of us perhaps dreaming of (mis)adventures of lives long past.
そして帰りがけ、お店前でひと時忍者になって楽しんだ海外ランナーでした。
