A warm thank you to the Capitol Plaza Hotel for sharing complimentary rooms with the team. We are well rested and ready for the day. We continue running with your support and self giving.
This morning, the Peace Run team was fortunate to spend some quality time with the Jefferson City Road Runners Club.
Its time for the Peace Run team to move on and prepare for our next engagement but not before a big thank you to our new friends in the Jefferson City Road Runners Club.
Our next meeting of the day is held at the State Capitol Building under the watchful eye of none other than Thomas Jefferson.
The team is pleased to welcome Mayor Ron Fitzwater who presents a proclamation naming this day as the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run Day in Jefferson City.
Thank you Mayor Fitzwater for joining the Peace Run. Your words are an inspiration, thank you for your goodwill and commitment to Jefferson City.
And a special thank you to Drake Rhodes for making this all possible. You represent your beautiful town so well.
A highpoint of the program was recognizing Alicia and Doug Wright, founders of Building Community Bridges. Their work in serving those in need in Jeff City reaches beyond even what they know. And they affect the lives of so many people through their mentorship and guidance. They are true Torch Bearers whom we thank for their selfless lives. We honor you and thank you both for all you are and all you do.
The program at the Capitol Building is finally complete when Arpan collects soil to represent Missouri in our 50 state soil collection. The team will plant a Peace Tree using soil from all 50 US states.
In 1804, Thomas Jefferson asked Lewis & Clark to embark on the Corp of Discovery after the Louisiana Purchase.
Jefferson City was later named after Thomas Jefferson recognizing his vision to explore America in its infancy.
After the program, we enjoy the beauty of the inner dome. Some consider it the most beautiful of Capitol Buildings in the United States.
