Reported by Dipavajan Renner 40.0 km

A big Thank You to the "Hotel Regina" in Rio de Janeiro for hosting our Peace Run Team!

Barra da Tijuca, here we are! The "Centro Educational Espaço Integrado" was ready for the Peace Run!

The whole school lined up for "high five"....

...it took a while to run through the whole school...

...peace birds marked the way through the school...

...after the running we met the kids in the gym halls for a presentation...

...time for autographs...

...now it was time to run for the kids...

Thank you "Centro Educational Espaço Integrado" for the enthusiastic meeting!

We left Barra da Tijuca behind and were about to reach the "old" Rio de Janeiro...

Sandro, our new runner friend, joined us for quite a distance...

...long beaches...

...we could see already in the distance Ipanema Beach...

...Ipanema...

...the "new" girl from Ipanema...

...Copacabana: beach life in Rio is quite omnipresent...

...we arrived at the "Colégio Sagrado Coração de Maria" on the Copacabana...

...a powerful entrance...

...the schools representatives received us with kind words...

...hoisting of the flags while the national anthem was played...

...we received medals...

...time to pass the torch...

Thank you "Colégio Sagrado Coração de Maria" for the outstanding meeting!

...our final stretch of running brought us to the national park of Tijuca...

...Vista Chinesa....

...a most scenic running route...

...with monkeys...

...and flowers...

...from high above: Maracanã...

...Jorge enjoyed the uphill...

...almost there...

...that's our today's destination of one of the world's most scenic running routes: Corcovado. What better place to end the run into Rio de Janeiro.

...some photo shooting...

...sunset on the Corcovado.

Father Leandro welcomed us to the chapel "Nossa Senhora da Aparecida" , which is built into the Christ Statue...

...a short sermon...

Father Leandro blessed the Peace Torch...

The Christ Statue on the Corcovado is the most significant landmark in Brasil...

...a final group picture...

...a stunning view over the bay of Rio de Janeiro. On the other side Niteroi can be seen, our final destination of this year's Peace Run in Brazil...

Thank you Rio de Janeiro for the great day!
