Fremantle, WA - Perth, WA

Reported by Atulya Berube, Dhavala Stott, Edgars Ancans, Grahak Cunningham 74.0 km

This day's running route wound along the beach-lined Perth coast. Some of the boys started the run from the accommodation at 7.30am, to complete the 34km run to Mullalo beach by 10.00am. The city was gradually waking up and the runners were surprised by the Monday morning activity on the pedestrian/cycling path. People were walking dynamically, running or cycling from the very morning along Leughtin, Cottlesloe, Scarbourough, Trigg and Mettams beach. Some surfers were already catching a wave. Many, as usual, smiled at the torch, were interested in the goal of the run and were not shy about putting a good wish in the torch.

After meeting with the South Perth Mayor, the team of guys returned and continued running towards Lancelin. In total, covering a distance of about 74km. Boys finished the run with a swim. The coastline here is gorgeous!

The rest of the team made their way to Highgate Primary School.

We presented our program to an enthusiastic group of children. They guested all our countries and we sang them the Peace Run song.

Then the torch was passed from hand to hand and heart to heart.

Dhavala, our Scottish runner was happy to meet Jane, a fellow Scot at Highgate Primary.

Thanks for a great ceremony!

We also had time to visit the Sri Chinmoy statue in the South Perth Scented Gardens.

There was another tree dedicated to peace in the same area.

A little later South Perth Mayor, Greg Milner, came to receive the torch, a certificate of appreciation and offer a few words about the importance of peace.

He really spoke from the heart and it was evident that he loved to serve.

Our next stop was Redcliffe Primary School.

The children really enjoyed the actions that go along with the World Harmony Run song. Here they are holding up their imaginary torches.

Susan lead the children to their hearts to feel peace, joy and oneness.

The school leaders accepted the Jharna-Kala (Fountain-Art) entitled World Harmony by founder Sri Chinmoy.

We honored all the teachers for everything they so self-givingly offer to the students. They took a lap with the torch, much to the joy of the children.

A huge group of the students ran with the torch around their oval.

Thank you Redcliffe!

The final school of the day was West Coast Steiner Nollamarra.

We were greeted by a very well mannered and large group of students. A class 6 student offered an eloquent welcome speech.

They had made a lot of peace posters and banners.

They very nicely offered a song in the middle of the program. We believe it was entitled the Peace Round song. The rounds were beautiful.

Principal Jacky accepted our certificate and Jharna-Kala print. Thank you Jacky for preparing the children so well!

Welcome to the team Todor!

Thank you so much Acclaim Holiday Parks Kingsway Tourist Park for hosting the entire team!
