Dee joined the Peace Run team on her bike for many miles. A longtime friend of the Peace Run, Dee joins us whenever the Run passes through Rhode Island
The World’s First Sri Chinmoy Peace Bridge connects Cumberland and Central Falls. Both communities have been proclaimed Sri Chinmoy Peace Towns and Peace Cities. Many landmarks around the world have been dedicated as Sri Chinmoy Peace Blossoms, reminding people to take a moment to reflect and meditate on peace.
Mayor Jeff Mutter is now part of our team.
Brian,(pictured holding the torch), joined the team for many miles. He have joined us many times, in fact whenever the Peace Run passes through Rhode Island we can be sure he will be there .
Mayor Jeff Mutter passed the Peace Torch to Mayor Maria Rivera of the City of Central Falls, who was waiting for us at the next Peace Bridge.

We had a wonderful time with children and parents at Jenks Park, where they were having an art workshop.
We continued to the Peace Bridge next to the Cogswell Temperance Fountain, where we met Mayor Donald Grebien.
Mayor Donald Grebien warmly welcomed us in front of the Sri Chinmoy Peace Bridge, a special landmark dedicated to peace and harmony in 1989.

We visited the Cape Verdean Museum, the world’s first museum dedicated to Cape Verdean culture. It preserves and celebrates the heritage, history, and achievements of the Cape Verdean people in Cape Verde, the United States, and around the world.
Jose DaMoura is Executive Director of the Cape Verdean Museum in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Jose DaMoura, received the Honorary Peace Torchbearer Award. The Peace Run Award honors individuals who, through their actions and personal example, selflessly contribute to the well-being of others and the betterment of their communities.
Yvonne Smart, Educator and Curator, received the Torch-Bearer Award. The Peace Run Award honors individuals who, through their actions and personal example, selflessly contribute to the well-being of others and the betterment of their communities.
The museum serves to educate and offers classes and has visits from school children, international college students, visitors visiting from other countries, as well as visits from heads of state, the President of Cape Verde and the Prime Minister.
The last meeting of the day took place at one of the largest State Houses in the United States - Rhode Island State House.

We were warmly welcomed once again by Rhode Island General Treasurer James Diossa, whose kind words and support are always deeply appreciated.

Mark Grey is pictured presenting, on behalf of the Lieutenant Governor, an Official Recognition from the State of Rhode Island, issued by Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos to the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run on the occasion of the 2026 Peace Run. The recognition expresses sincere gratitude for the Peace Run’s leadership, vision, and dedication to bringing people together around the world, and thanks the team for including Rhode Island in the 2026 Peace Run route.
We had a wonderful meeting with Mayor Roberto DaSilva of East Providence.
We had the honor of meeting Councilman John Goncalves and Congressman Gabe Amo. We are sincerely grateful for their support and appreciation of the mission of the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run.
We were honored to receive an Official Citation from the Providence City Council, personally presented to the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run by Councilman John Goncalves. The citation recognizes the Peace Run’s unwavering commitment to promoting peace, friendship, and international understanding, and honors its efforts to bring communities together through the Peace Torch, inspiring compassion, unity, and hope around the world. The citation was presented on August 12, 2026, at Providence City Hall, Rhode Island, and signed by City Council President Rachel M. Miller and Councilman John Goncalves.
