A big thank to our dear friend Stephen Smyth for accommodating some of our mens team and hosting the whole team for a sumptuous breakfast. Stephen is a former recipient of our Torch-Bearer Award and has supported our team whenever we come to Glasgow for many years.

We arrived at our first school, St Annes Primary School, and were delighted to see a quote by Mother Teresa on the door "Peace begins with a smile".

Our local Glasgow Coordinator, Adarsha Kelly, happens to have a wonderful singing voice, which greatly enhanced our presentation!

Many of the kids had prepared artwork and poetry- thank you!

Some of the talented children read their poems for us. We thoroughly enjoyed them!

Feeling peace in our hearts- teachers definitely need some peace!

Time for the teachers to run a lap while we all cheer and appreciate the most significant and challenging role they play in fostering world peace!

We offered the school an artwork by Sri Chinmoy entitled "Peace feeds the children". A special thank you to Deputy Head Marie Hamilton, pictured holding the painting, for organising our visit.

Every wish for peace is precious.

A big thank you to everyone st St Annes!

Many helping hands ;)

Running to our next school visit...

Teachers from St Denis Primary feeling peace...

World Harmony.

A big thank you to Eilidh Brown for organising our visit and so enthusiastically embracing the message of the Peace Run!

Time to pass the torch!

We give the children little cards representing some of the many countries the Peace Run has visited.

Thank you St Denis Primary- we loved meeting you all!

On our way to visit the Glasgow City Chambers. The Lord Provost's assistant Anne enthusiastically welcomed us and even ran the torch the last few metres!

Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren welcoming the team!

We were invited inside the historic and richly decorated City Chambers to have tea and scones with the Lord Provost herself!

A cup of tea.

For some reason it is good luck to rub this marble lions nose...its fairly worn down by now!

The Lord Provost was very happy to show us the 850th Anniversary plate which is sometimes gifted to special guests.

Anne kindly gave the team a grand tour. First stop was Inside the Council Chambers.

Adarsha is seated on Queen Victoria's seat!

The Banquet Hall.

The marble staircase is certainly grand. Thank you for such a warm welcome!

Our next stop was in the Helensburgh Town Square, where we were warmly welcomed by Douglas Philand, Provost of Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute.

Everyone wanted to hold the the torch!

Our new friends enthusiastically ran around the town Square with us!

Much gratitude to long time local coordinator, Balya Sommerville, who organised our delightful visit to Helensburgh!

Local runner, John Glyn-Hughes, holding the torch and some fruit which we were all generously gifted, along with fresh orange juice, by local fruit and veg shop owner, Toni Taylor- thank you Toni!

John leads us to the town Civic Centre!

A big thank you to Norman McPhee for welcoming us to the Civic Centre with his impressive bag pipe playing.

The Provost also joined us at the Civic Centre.

The talented local musician Robert Ryan performed some Scottish folk songs, including some written or made famous by the great Robbie Burns. Much gratitude, Robert, we really enjoyed your performance!

Thank you Provost Douglas Philand for so enthusiastically welcoming us to your beautiful town!

A big thank you to Town Councillor, Fiona Howard, for helping set up our visit and provide us with an absolute feast of vegetarian treats- it was so abundant that we took many boxes home also!

Sheep! And lambs! the drive back to Edinburgh was a beautiful end to a beautiful day!
