Martina, Reschen - Nauders

Reported by Sandro Zincarini 16.0 km

We started the day in Pfunds, where we met some spontaneous friends on the road.

Then we visited the Primary School in Pfunds.

And then we headed off to cover our distance, connecting Martina (Switzerland), and Reschen (Italy) to Nauders (Austria).

Getting ready for the big event!

and then we finally reached Schwarzer See, where the  inauguration of the Sri Chinmoy Peace Blossom would take place.

It was a truly beautiful setting.

Runners arriving!

A musical welcome.

Helmut Spöttl, the mayor from Nauders (Austria)...

Andrea Maas, Culture city councilor of Curon Venosta (Italy)...

...and Peder Caviezel, mayor from Valsot (Switzerland), which also composed for the occasion a beautiful poem!

Unveiling the plaque!

The monument has a plaque in each of the three languages that surround the area: German, Italian and Romansh language.

More than 150 nations have been dedicated to peace by national leaders as Sri Chinmoy Peace-Blossoms-Nations, joining over 900 landmarks, capitals and significant locations in this global policy project through which entities have reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation, dialogue and peace. Sri Chinmoy Peace-Blossoms-Nations include Australia, Canada, India, Japan and South Africa. Landmarks dedicated as Sri Chinmoy Peace-Blossoms include Mt. Everest, the Matterhorn, Niagara Falls, the Taj Mahal and Lake Baikal.

More performances...

And finally passing the peace torch around!

...and running with the torch!

It was then time for some refreshments.

On top of this mountain there is another plaque at the actual geographical location of the tri-border point.

...which is also in the three main languages of the area.

A big thank you to the representatives of Austria, Italy and Switzerland for making this event possible!
