Talkeetna, AK

Reported by Rupasi Young 7.0 mi

Some of the team took a quick trip down to the Talkeetna River confluence with the Susitna River before we begin our adventure down the Curry Ridge Trail.

We are very excited to meet some new friends on our way to the ridge.  Mabel  in the front was the first to say hello.  Human companions hold the Peace Torch.

Is Denali this way?  Our trail is blanketed in a cloud.

Beautiful meadows are the backdrop on our way to the top.

And friendly grouse greet us.

Just a few steps more.

A mushroom like no other.

Reaching the viewpoint, past Rocky Knob and on to Curry Ridge.

We had hoped to catch a glimpse of Mt Denali but not today.  The climb was a great adventure anyway.  We know that just past the clouds lie the tallest mountain in the United States, named in 1993 as a Sri Chinmoy Peace Blossom.  It is one of over 230 such monuments, natural sites, states, cities, and bridges dedicated to peace here in the United States..  Thousands of such monuments can be found all around the world.

Thank you Alaska as we make our way down the mountain and bid farewell to the 49th state in the US.  Our lives are better because we know you.
