Velp - Giethoorn

Reported by Abhinabha Tangerman 110.0 km

Starting in the Roncallischool in Velp.

Peace is love.

Gift for the school.

Special goodbye.

From Velp we went to the beautiful town of Deventer.

There we visited elementary school De Windroos, right in the centre of town.

Running through Deventer.

The next stop was in Olst, where we visited the Sint Willibrordschool.

A beautiful setting under shady trees.

Familiar elements for us, but a joy each time for the kids.

Something we should do more often.

They were great runners and singers as well.

Running through the beautiful province of Overijssel.

Gorgeous countryside.

Arriving in the small town of Wijhe at De Bongerd school.

Kids were already waiting for us.

The children were all ears.

And had lots of questions!

Can you guess what country I'm from?

Leaving an injured runner alone, is that peace?

No!

Helping the injured runner, is that peace!

Yes!!

Pindrop silence as we were feeling peace in the heart.

Nice artwork!

Moments with the Peace Torch.

That's what I call a high five!

This little boy's eyes were gleaming when he held the Torch.

Thank you De Bongerd, we will not forget you!

The road goes ever on and on.

Towards the town of Hasselt, where the mayor greeted us.

Locals with the Torch.

Locals without a Torch.

Towards our last meeting of the day.

But first a scenic stop at a beautiful lake.

Watching out for the runners.

People in the town of Giethoorn were eagerly expecting us.

And there we are!

Reverent Matthijs de Vries warmly received us on behalf of the baptist church in Giethoorn.

And he had a surprise in store for us: a boatride through the town!

Giethoorn is well known for its beautiful little canals and waterways. Many tourists visit the town from all over the world, especially China.

After a wonderful ride on the water we arrived at the baptist church.

We spoke to the congregation about the Peace Run.

Young and old were present.

Everybody shared the Torch and expressed their sincere peace wishes, often out loud.

Peace is in togetherness.
