Grootegast

Reported by Abhinabha Tangerman

Today we arrived in The Netherlands!

We were received in the town of Grootegast by Nicolien de Kroon, who received a Torch Bearer Award in 2014.

For 18 years Nicolien shipped boxes full of medicine, school supplies, soft toys , clothing and food to children in war zones.

She has worked with people like Mother Teresa and Mikhail Gorbachov.

Because of her tremendous concern for children, Nicolien is sometimes called 'mother of the world'.

She is a true dreamer of world-peace.

Here she is wearing her own peace mantle, which she puts on when she does her own peace walks.

Finding a good place for the Peace Torch.

Nicolien cooked a sumptuous meal for us!

We presented her with our Certificate of Appreciation.

Her friend Ymkje (left) also helped out. Two years ago she joined us running for a few kilometres.

Anita from Portugal spoke with Nicolien's daughter-in-law, who hails from Brazil.

We shared stories until the sky darkened. Great fun washad by all!
