Our first school of the day at Ruusuvuoren Koulu, in Vantaa was with a bright group of students led by two lovely teachers.
After our presentation we were happy to have them run with us to the local park.
We've had beautiful weather in Finland and today was no exception.
We had another great meeting at the Steiner Koulu in Vantaa. The school is set in beautiful peaceful surroundings and we found the students keen to learn about the Peace Run and full of ideas on how to create peace in their own lives.
Then they were led on a lap of the school by one of their teachers.
Happily heading off to a lunch break!
For our last stretch of running on this years Finland Peace Run we had a group run from Heureka Science Museum into Helsinki.
A local running journalist came to meet the runners and get some shots of the team running.
Kagni, our Finnish co-ordinator led us the last few kilometres into Helsinki.
We made a stop at the plaque marking Finland as a Sri Chinmoy Peace-Blossoms-Nation, proclaiming its commitment to universal peace.
It reads,"Finland embodies the vastness of its skies, the silence of its forests and the clarity of its waters. Indeed, Finland is a peace-nurturing and peace-sheltering land."
We finished at Kansailaistori in Helsinki, where we were met by Erkki Tuomioja, a long-time supporter of the Peace Run and its message. He has been a member of the Finnish parliament for over forty years and is a former Foreign minister.
Our team captain, Sadanand introduces the team and tells of our run through Europe to Finland.
Erkki Tuomioja spoke of how important and relevant the Peace Run and its message is in todays world.
Arno is also an old friend of the Peace Run who came to the final ceremony to meet the Peace Runners.
Henka and Maibi from Helsinki helped provide us with a delicious meal in the evening
Varunavi left the team today with a gift of chocolate for us all to share.
Max from Slovenia saw us and was excited to come and tell us the Peace Run had visited his school ten years ago in Ljubljana. He said he received a Peace Run t-shirt at the time that he has kept and still wears. He was very happy to have the chance to hold the torch again.
We also said goodbye to Olena, whose smiles and sweet singing we will miss! Thank You both for being part of the team through Scandinavia.
