It was time to head inside, away from the heat and start our ceremony. We started by introducing the Peace Run and watched the video of the run running through different countries around the world and the USA.

We played the guessing game. Students did great guessing all the countries of the international team. Here our runner from Hawaii, Banshidhar, teaching them the Hula dance.

In order to give peace, we need peace. Students did a fantastic job while doing the heart exercise, feeling peace in their hearts.
President of the Boys and Girls Clubs, Alma Frontera, received the Torch Bearer Award for her selfless work and dedication to the BGC. She mentioned how grateful she was working with the youth inspiring them to do their very best and seeing them grow and meet all their goals. She also mentioned the importance of peace in our lives and with peace you can have a better life and build a better world.
José Santos chose several members of the staff and students to receive the Torch Bearer Award for their selfless service to the BGC and inspiring their communities by going above and beyond with their hard work and dedication spreading peace around them.

Also Iziar Suárez received the Torch Bearer Award Medal. Because of health issues he couldn't be present, he was very grateful and moved and we met him via FaceTime from the hospital where he was at. We wish him a quick recovery and offer him our gratitude for his dedication at the BGC and inspiring the youth at the BGC and everyone that he meets.
También Iziar Suárez recibió el premio al Portador de Antorcha. Aunque no pudo estar presente por problemas de salud, estuvo muy agradecido via FaceTime desde el hospital donde se encuentra. Le deseamos una rápida recuperación y le agradecemos por todo su trabajo y esfuerzo en el BGC y por inspirar a los jóvenes y a toda la gente que lo conoce.

After the ceremony a few of us went to El Yunque National Park. We enjoyed the magnificent views and the beauty of Mother Nature that the Enchanted Island has to offer.
Después de la ceremonia, algunos de nosotros nos dirigimos al Bosque Nacional El Yunque. Disfrutamos de las vistas magníficas y la belleza de la Madre Naturaleza que ofrece la Isla Encantada.
The Yokahú Tower was constructed in 1963 by Forest Supervisor and Director of IITF, Frank H. Wadsworth. This tower is one of the two observation towers located in the park and sits at an elevation of 1,575 feet (480 m) tall and has 98 steps. It was breathtaking appreciating the beauty of El Yunque National Forest.
La Torre Yokahú fué construida en 1963 por el Supervisor y Director del IITF, Frank H. Wadsworth. Esta torre es una de las dos torres de observación en el parque y tiene una elevación de 480 metros de altura (1,575 pies) y contiene 98 escalones. Fué impresionante el apreciar la belleza del Bosque National de El Yunque.
