Welcome to Matosinhos!
Our second day in Portugal and everyone was full of enthusiasm...

As our first meeting we visited the primary school in Matosinhos.

...an enthusiastic welcome...

...by the mayor, children and teachers...

Ricardo presented the Peace run to the school....

..all the 600 children passed the torch and made a wish for peace...

Thank you Matosinhos for the hospitality and the warm welcome!

...a symbolic lap with everyone...

...the school prepared the theme very well...

Good bye and see you again, soon!

...end of February and the trees start to blossom...

...we arrived at the "Colégio Nova Encosta" in Paços de Ferreira.

...a long chain of children gave us a perfect welcome...

...guessing our runner's nationalities is a game all children love...

...we teach them our song....

...and the kids sang for us, too...

...the group picture turned out to be quite a challenge...

...autograph hunters...

...the final run...

Thank you Paços de Ferreira for the friendship!

...new friends along the road...

...arriving in Guimarães, the birthplace of the Portuguese nation...

...a most beautiful city, well taken care of...

A group of drummers awaited us near the city hall...

..while we enjoyed a city run, they proceeded to the city hall and together we arrived in the historic building.

Mr. Amadeu Artur Matos Portilha, the deputy mayor of Guimarães, welcomed the runners and received the torch on behalf of the city.

Various groups of the community attended the meeting and offered their wishes for peace...

Thank you Guimarães for the heartfelt welcome!

...the night decends on the city and we enjoyed a great dinner, hosted by the city...
