This morning, the team went to Townsville to visit the city council

The Peace Torch is received by Townsville's Mayor, Kristian Price

The international team of runners briefly introduce themselves and their countries before they enter the city council building

Our local coordinator, Amalendu Edelsten, talks about this year's Peace Run journey around Australia and the many people we met who tirelessly serve their community

Mayor Kristian Price welcomes all the Peace Runners to Townsville. He talked about the importance of serving the community and strengthening the connection between people to create a harmonious society

We presented Mayor Kristian Price with an artwork by Peace Run founder Sri Chinmoy. The artwork, "Imagine and dream the world peace dream" is a representation that peace can also be expressed through the arts.

A delicious selection of fruits and snacks was provided for the runners

Every runner signed their name and country in Sri Chinmoy's 'Listen to Nature' book. We hope the inspiring quotes in this edition will inspire the readers and listeners of the city council

After the official presentation, Mayor Kristian Price invited the runners into the Council Chambers

The Peace Run is running

Thank you, Mayor Kristian Price and Councillor Andrew Robinson for taking the time this Saturday morning to meet Peace Run team. We were deeply inspired by the work you do for your community. It is always a pleasure to meet people like you, as we run around the continent, who are genuinely committed to serving the ideal of harmony and unity

Two Latvian boys, Edgars and Peteris, are ready to run through the streets of Townsville and carry the Peace Torch to the top of Castle Hill.

More international runners joined them as they felt the need to help them to reach the top

At the end of the day, we went shopping in Woolworths Kirwan to replenish our supplies. At the cash desk, we met Kim, who, after hearing about the Peace Run, sponsored our dinner for tonight. We are very grateful for your offering, Kim

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to BIG4 Ingenia Holidays in Townsville for hosting our team of runners for the past two nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and greatly appreciated the warm hospitality and comfortable accommodations. The team is now ready to continue their journey
