The women's team starts the day with a beautiful drive to our start point, with an early morning low mist rolling over the land.
For a few days now, the Peace Run team has been sticking to the system of running to the road sign, at which the next team started running. During the run, white dunes could be seen across Lake Newland. Another new surprise in the Australian landscape.
The mist soon burns off and route finding is simple out here, with the same road going for miles. We cover 40km before driving on to Streaky Bay.
The road seems flat but there are very gradual hills, with glimpses of the ocean to our left.
In the morning, the boys' team continued to run from Waterloo Bay Tourist Park in Elliston, towards Streaky Bay 45km.
About 10km along the road, a car pulled over to chat with us. It turns out, we had left behind one plate in the camp kitchen at the camping ground, and this lovely couple had taken it upon themselves to catch up with us to return the plate!
We are welcomed to Streaky Bay Area School by the Principal, Tim O’Reilly. Around 250 students are gathered in their outdoor gym. Our MC for the occasion, Atulya Berube from the USA, introduces the message of the Peace Run once Principal O'Reilly finishes.
All ages enthusiastically join in with the singing and actions to the World Harmony Run song, accompanied by Rathin on his ukulele.
The team then goes with some year 12 students to plant a Peace Tree in the school grounds.
Mia represents the students to plant the tree, a Sheoak which will grow into a large strong Peace Tree.

This boy has a Vegemite wrap for lunch which Dhavala thinks would be a good option for tomorrow’s lunch for the team!! Some of the team are not convinced!
The school has excellent facilities and a large outdoor play space. Our ceremony finishes just as their lunch break starts so the Peace Run team enjoy watching, chatting and sometimes joining in on the acrobatics with the students.
After visiting Streaky Bay Area School and planting a Peace Tree, the team spent the night at Streaky Bay Sports Club. Tara Benc welcomed us at the sports club and kindly showed us the facilities. Many thanks!
The team used the spacious and well-equipped kitchen to prepare dinner. A rare time when the team could eat on time, while still in daylight.
