Robe, SA - Meningie, SA

Reported by Roxana Magdici, Rupasi Young 189.0 km

Thanks to Sea Vu Caravan Park for a wonderful stay; we are particularly grateful for the wonderful kitchen and really good showers.

The team van follows the team who take turns covering the distance on the way to ...

... Kingston Community School.

The children take great delight in guessing the international runner's nationalities.  Muggi gives a few hints: "Children start riding horse at the age of 4!  And Ulaanbaatar is the coldest capital city in the whole world".  After several guesses, a smart lad answers correctly, "Mongolia".

A moment of peace.

Muggi has a quiet moment of peace in the garden at KCS.

Madeleine leads the school on a peace run around the oval.

Deputy Principal Jane proudly takes us to an olive tree which was planted in a previous visit from the Peace Run in 2018.  It was dedicated then as a Peace Tree, linking it with hundreds of such trees around the globe.  It is flourishing and fruiting under the loving care of Kingston Community School.

Meanwhile, in Robe, what a gorgeous day to begin for our second team!  The team prepare for their first meeting of the day at Robe Primary School, by the Robe Rock.

School captains Scarlett and Mani lead the team into the auditorium where their classmates are waiting to receive the Peace Torch.

The students are so happy to receive the team, some have seen our other team running before they arrived at school.

They are so bright they guess all of our countries during the country guessing game including some bonus questions, like – Mount Everest; which country?  Nepal!

Scarlett and Mani accept the Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the school including a Jharna Kala artwork entitled 'World Harmony'.

Thank you to the teachers for their tremendous and very important role they play in their students' lives.

Everyone has a chance to hold the Torch ...

... and run for peace.

Principal Anne Grayson treats us to coffee, tea and cookies including the famous Australian lamingtons.  So delicious!  A happy snack to help us run our kilometres.

Some good advice in the kitchen.

Waiting for the torch bearer to arrive from her 5km run.

The men's team covers a fair distance through the magical Coorong National Park, flanked by ecologically important wetlands and native bush.  The bird life is simply stunning and they provide a lovely symphony of melodies as we park and wait for our runners to run their relay.

The men's team starts somewhere near here ...

... and runs to somewhere near here ...

... with some fun along the way.

Lots of beautiful running and meeting such incredible people along the way.

Asprihanal is committed to finishing the distance.

Victory!  A beautiful day of running comes to an end.

The women's runners are safely ensconced in our accommodations for the night.  Australian teammate Saranyu's longtime friend Cathi and her husband David kindly offered to have the women stay with them.  Their ranch house easily fit everyone comfortably.  We received a wonderful welcome and a fine meal for the whole team.

The men's team joined us for dinner and happily signed the guest book before departing for their accommodations.  Good night from all the team.
