We started our day with an enthusiastic welcome at Vista Del Mar Middle School.

Ms Yesenia Soderber received the Torch Bearer Award for her work as an outstanding campus supervisor.

Ms Nikole Kempi, the 7th grade science teacher was awarded the Torch Bearer Award for her dedicated and enthusiastic work as the track coach. She said her students inspire her to keep working hard and that their track training teaches them skills which help them in other areas of their lives.

The principal led the students on a run around the field.

The Peace Runners are also extremely grateful to Jyoti-Bihanga, a vegetarian restaurant who provided the team with all our meals while we were in San Diego. They serve a wide range of delicious and nutritious food which kept us well nourished.

Malancha, the manager of Jyoti-Bihanga takes a moment out from his hard work to hold the Peace Torch.

At the Kearney Mesa Recreation Center we met Ron Sandwick and some other local runners for a run to our next event. Ron is a professor at Mesa College and a good friend of the Peace Run who helped us establish a Sri Chinmoy Peace Trail at the College.

We unveiled a Peace Tree (a Torrey Pine) in honor of this years 50 state Peace Run near the start of the Peace Trail.

The Peace Trail was established to provide a space to feel peace through Nature's beauty, with many poems and quotes along the trail.

We enjoyed a walk along the trail, led by Ron.

We are eternally grateful to Marilyn for donating the land for the beautiful Peace Garden in San Diego where we have a statue of the Peace Run founder, Sri Chinmoy.

Always time for an ice cream stop.
