Mayor Butler received the Sri Chinmoy Oneness Home Peace Run Torch Bearer Award for her dedicated service to her community. Born and raised in Eudora, Ms. Butler is the first woman of color to lead the city as mayor. Prioritizing empathy, passion and understanding, she hopes her achievements will inspire others to be a stepping stone in the community. We were inspired by her enthusiasm and grace in welcoming us to be part of a community event with teachers, young people and partner organizations. She is a truly inspiring community leaders, and well deserving recipient of the Torch Bearer Award.

Mayor Butler kindly helped to provide soil from Arkansas to be part of the 50 state peace tree to be planted with soil from all American states at the completion of the run.
