Our final morning in Halifax began with a five kilometre run, briefly stopping at the Citadel National Historic Site.
We just happened to be there at the exact time that they fired the cannon, it happens at noon each day.
A friendly citizen seemingly read our minds by offering us water from his car at just the right moment during our run!
We ran into Peace and Friendship Park, where our Atlantic Canada Peace Run opening ceremony took place three weeks earlier.
We met cameraman Peter Dawson and shared some poignant and lively conversation. He had spent some time in Ukraine and talked to us about the admiration he had for the resilience and courage of the people there. Even in the midst of such danger and hardship, he came away with an optimistic view for the future of humanity.
All from Le Téléjournal Acadie took a moment to hold the torch. We are grateful for their coverage of our closing ceremony.
Thank you to our wonderful international team, who all volunteered their time to take part in this Peace Run. Our three week journey through Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island was full of significant meetings, memorable moments and the constant beauty of nature.
Sulabha gets an honourable mention for being the team member who packed the lightest, this is all he brought for the entire three week trip!
We enjoyed a final team dinner with all the team members who were left, many had already departed for their next adventures.
