Graeme Goodings is a familiar face to South Australians.
He is a veteran television personality - presenting the news in South Australia for over 30 years. Graeme’s work, however, extends past his involvement with newscasting. As an iconic South Australian, Graeme has utilised his position to champion countless significant causes.
Following his own clash with cancer in 2004 Graeme has taken on the role of Ambassador for the Cancer Council, Ambassador to the Jodie Lee Foundation and become a Board Member for Prostate SA.
Graeme uses his social standing to promote awareness of the prevalence of cancer - touring the State advocating the benefits of early detection and proactive health checks. In doing so Graeme is helping to break the stigma and stereotypes surrounding diagnosis and treatment.
Graeme is an inspirational individual whose willingness to talk about his own personal story has reached out to families touched by cancer.
The DVD Cancer – What Now? written and produced by Graeme has been endorsed by the Cancer Council. The DVD is aimed at helping people understand the emotions surrounding a cancer diagnosis. It also provides advice on the difficult task of telling friends and family.
Partnering with his wife, Eve, he has also created Foundation Shine an organisation making a difference to the day-to-day lives of those suffering from mental illness. Foundation Shine focusses on creating public awareness around the prevalence of mental illness and works to connect suffers with available support.
Graeme’s attitude towards proactive health has seen him become involved in countless events promoting healthy choices. One such event is Relay for Life an incredible overnight event that is an opportunity for family, friends and colleagues to get together with others in the community to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and fight back against a disease through wholesome lifestyle choices.
His love for life flows into his involvement with the Adelaide Football Club – he is the Club’s number one ticket holder.
